For years, many who have lived — or just simply drove by — the Van Cortlandt Motel on Broadway have begged and pleaded for the city to do something about it. Whether it’s attracting more crime, or being used to house people who have nowhere else to go, the motel seemed to be an institution that was never going to go anywhere.

The inaugural “Lettuce Run” at Van Cortlandt Park saw over a hundred community members participate last Saturday. The event hosted by the Van Cortlandt Track Club was to bring attention and raise money for the Friendly Fridge Foundation, a community fridge that has been redirecting food to those in need since the pandemic.

But he worked for many years as an album design artist before finding a second calling as an antiques dealer and later specializing in watercolor art. Today, he has retired to the Bronx, where he continues to stretch his creativity with his paintings.

Eylon Levy is truly dedicated to Israel and its people. And he brought that love this past week to students at SAR Academy. Born and raised in London, Levy moved to Israel at 23, enlisting in the military there at the height of the 2014 Gaza war.
After his service, Levy decided to stay in Israel, first serving as the international media advisor to the Israeli president before becoming the government’s official spokesman following the Hamas terrorist attacks of Oct. 7.
