All programs are held on Saturday and Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m., in the Kerlin Learning Center, at Wave Hill, West 249th Street and Independence Avenue. The program is free with paid admission to the garden. For more information, call 718-549-3200.

Jan. 12 and 13
A Desert Under Glass

Participants can spend time sketching and painting the exotic desert dwellers that live in Wave Hill's Cactus House.

Jan. 19 and 20
Bits of Cloth and Lots of Freedom

In the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., children and adults can create their own colorful African-American quilts using their own personal dreams of freedom as inspiration.

Jan. 26 and 27
Diamond Rattlers

Native American artist Nadema Agard will lead participants in story, song and traditional Native American dance. Afterward they can create a paper rattlesnake.

Feb. 2 and 3
Carnival Rhythm

Dancer Yvette Martinez, drummer Nancy Friedman and the dance troupe Retumba will bring a Caribbean carnival to Wave Hill. Children and adults can then create their own percussion instruments to join in the fun.

Feb. 9 and 10
Hearts and Flowers

Participants will create Valentine's Day cards after soaking up the beauty of Wave Hill's blossoms.

Feb. 16 and 17
Shaping the Land

See how ice, wind and other forces of nature have formed the hills, valleys and flat places of Wave Hill. Then artists can sculpt their own landscapes using rocks, clay and other natural materials.

Feb. 23 and 24
Ferny Paper

PaPapermaker Randy Brozen will guide participants in making sheets of handmade paper patterned and textured using fern fronds.
