Trump's parade is waste of money

Posted

To the editor:

A toddler sees another child with a shiny toy, and he wants one just like it.

He hounds his parents, and they give in, even though indulging him and buying that toy is a bad, and even dangerous, move.

Are there any grownups in the Republican Party who is willing to say “no” to Donald J. Trump?

The world knows of America’s great military prowess. France parading its “military might” means nothing.

To paraphrase M.C. Hammer, “They can’t touch us.”

I suspect the person Trump really wants to irritate with his grand military exhibition is North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, in another case of my stuff is bigger than yours.

Such a parade will cost millions of dollars.

If Trump is truly interested in supporting our military, he would designate those millions to support our service members who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and other service-related physical and psychological injuries.
