A. Robber strikes bank

Police are searching for a petite woman that robbed a Country Bank branch at 583 West 235th St. on Monday at 11:30 a.m.

According to police, the suspect walked into the bank wearing a baseball cap, a green shirt and a dark jacket.

The woman, whom police described as  5 feet 5 inches and no more than 140 pounds, passed a note to a teller demanding cash.

According to police, the teller handed over $2,720 to the woman and she fled.

Police believe that the bandit was also responsible for a robbery that occurred at another Country Bank located at 4349 Katonah Ave. on Saturday at around 12 p.m.

In that robbery, the suspect allegedly told the teller that she had a gun. She took off with $587, according to authorities.

The case is open to detectives.

B. Neighbor assaulted

Police said that a 56-year-old man assaulted his 47-year-old neighbor on 2800 University Ave. on Oct. 31 at 9:56 a.m.

According to police, the female tenant was talking to her friend downstairs when the man, who was upstairs, accused her of ringing his bell.

A dispute ensued and the attacker came downstairs from his apartment and grabbed the woman, police said.

According to the police report, the man slammed the woman’s face against the wall of the building, causing her to have a swollen lip and a bump on the side of her forehead.

He was arrested and charged with assault.

Police said that the woman’s attacker had prior assault offenses.

C. Teenage burglar

A 17-year-old was arrested for burglary on Oct. 29 at around 10:30 p.m. off West 246th Street and Henry Hudson Parkway after he broke into a local Jewish center, police said.

According to authorities, the teenager entered the building from a side window, causing damages to the window frame and screen.

When officers arrived at the scene after getting a tip about the burglary, the perpetrator tried to flee through a back entrance, but police caught and arrested him.

Police said the 17-year-old has no prior arrest history.

D. DWI on Riverdale Ave.

A 33-year-old man was found sleeping behind the wheel of a grey BMW on West 231st Street and Riverdale Ave. on Oct. 31 at 2:55 a.m.

Police said the man stopped at a red light on the street when he was caught dozing off. When police approached the car, they smelled a strong odor of alcohol on the man’s breath.

According to police, he also had a flushed face, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Police said that the man volunteered to take a Breathalyzer that he ultimately failed.

He was arrested and charged with DWI.

E. Supermarket thief

A 75-year-old woman walked into a Key Foods Supermarket at 540 W. 235th St. on Oct. 31 at 1:30 p.m.

When the elderly woman went to pay for her groceries at the cash register, she realized that her wallet was missing, police said.

According to authorities, the woman did not report the incident then because she thought she left her wallet at home.

When she received a call from her bank about $400 in charges on her credit card, she realized that her wallet was in fact stolen, police said.

The woman told police that she remembered leaving her pocketbook in her shopping cart unattended while shopping. She also recalled a small-built white male trailing behind her in the aisle as she shopped, she said.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance. The case is open to detectives.
