Pity the hate, pity the hater more

Mr. Alvin Gordon’s usual rants left out just but a few of the standard right-wing tropes. No need to repeat them here — they are sufficiently offensive without repetition in a reputable local community newspaper.

But please, Mr. Gordon, while ranting, explain to us — especially Jews like myself — how there are good Nazis? Your hero, Donald Trump, claimed about the white supremacists marching in Charlottesville, Virginia, “There are good people on both sides.” These are the very same white people who claimed “Jews will not replace us.”

I am so offended, words have a hard time expression my views. My president? Not at least according to Trump’s behavior: I don’t count. Why? I didn’t and would never vote for such a hate-monger.

He is right: He is not my president. So even if you cannot see it or admit it, there are many in our country who can, and who have.

Too bad for you.

Problems get resolved when people get off their high horses and meet in the middle, not when they take extremist views like your, sir. You are absolutely entitled to your views. However, they do little to nothing to bring our country back together again.

Perhaps that is your goal, like Trump’s: Get Americans to hate their neighbors, to the point of demeaning their very existence. After all, it gets racist white people’s votes.

How sad that you are only angry, sir. Were your energies brought to bear on resolving ongoing problems of national, state and/or local concern, our world would be that much better a place for all of us.

Too, too bad. I pity you.
