Partier pilfers some shades, kicks, cash

Posted

It’s not unheard of some folks like to let loose and get social Saturday nights.

But even then, it seems, some criminals are out to sully the good vibes.

A 27-year-old told police she was hosting a party at her place on the 2800 block of Sedgwick Avenue in Kingsbridge Heights around 10:30 p.m., March 16. But apparently one of her guests had showed up for more than just a jolly time, because they allegedly snuck off with several of her belongings, according to a report.

Those included Christian Dior sunglasses and a pair of white Adidas sneakers, valued at around $800 total, plus $1,000 cash.

But the host claims she watched it all unfold on video after the fact, thanks to a security camera police say was set up in her apartment.

It’s unclear exactly how the woman knew the alleged thief, but police believe they probably were acquaintances. The security camera footage could come in handy for cops looking into the grand larceny.

Strongbox gone, crime wins again

The environs around Vannie are prone to no shortage of car break-ins, but thieves also target apartments.

A 27-year-old told cops she left her Van Cortlandt Village home on the 100 block of West 238th Street for work bright and early, around 6:30 a.m., March 19.

But she later returned to discover her front door somehow unlocked, and several of her belongings disappeared.

Gone was an iron strongbox, removed from her dresser, as well as a pair of Pandora bracelets and a Michael Kors watch — all valued by police at around $3,470.

Details are sketchy as to how the mystery thief entered the apartment, but with no damage to the door, there’s little suggesting a bust-in.

It’s even possible the woman forgot to lock up her place after she left.

Police from the 50th Precinct continue to investigate the burglary.
