Missing rims, tires immobilize Honda

Posted

Even though it seems thieves have been on the hunt for motorcycles lately, they still haven’t forgotten about rims and tires.

A 26-year-old man told police he parked his white 2016 Honda Accord at the 80 block of Terrace View Avenue in Marble Hill at around 5:30 p.m., Sept. 14, returning the following morning to find all four tires and rims missing.

It’s not clear whether surveillance cameras at a nearby residence captured footage, police said, which means it could be tough nailing down suspects.

All told, cops valued the goods — which they described as four Continental tires and 19-inch rims — at $2,200, and they’re investigating the grand larceny.

Pricey controllers stolen from business

The 50th Precinct may not be the bloodiest, but some criminals still keep themselves busy snatching property.

An employee of Eastern Electrical Tech at 5701 Broadway told cops that when he showed up to open the store a little before 9 a.m., on Aug. 29, he found a rear wooden panel had been kicked in and what police described as two JLG controllers missing.

Police valued the controllers at $1,125 each.

The store reportedly doesn’t have cameras, which makes tracking down the panel buster tough. Yet police are investigating the burglary.

Yamaha owner says goodbye to bike

While some criminals seek stealth when it comes to stealing motorcycles, others just jump on and drive away — even when the owner’s right there.

A 52-year-old man told police a brazen thief hopped onto his Yamaha R6 motorcycle on the 5400 block of Broadway in Kingsbridge, and sped off south around 9:30 p.m., on Aug. 30 — right before the owner’s very eyes.

It’s case closed, police said, but they’re looking out for the Yamaha, and for the bold criminal who took it for a joyride.
