Manhattan man arrested after death of Fieldston Road senior citizen

It all started last August when police were called a Fieldston Road home to find an "emotionally disturbed" senior citizen. It ended Monday evening with the arrest of a Manhattan man in connection with his death.

Brian Murphy, 46, of 306 W. 102nd St., was taken into custody around dinnertime on Monday, according to the New York Police Department, more than a month after the death of John Murphy, 75.

Police didn't say how the two, who share a common last name, are related — if they're related — but police were called to the elder Murphy's home at 5467 Fieldston Road, the evening of Aug. 21. There they found  a disoriented John Murphy, according to the report, and took him to Montefiore Medical Center for further treatment.

The elder Murphy's health deteriorated in the weeks that followed, however, dying Sept. 12 at the hospital.

Police did not immediately release further details, but Brian Murphy was charged with  manslaughter, aggravated criminally negligent homicide and assault.
