Manhattan College student grabs rare grant

Posted

Alex Vasquez is a Manhattan College student with a love of math.

The secondary education major has taken his love for numbers and teaching to a summer research center at Illinois State University thanks to an undergraduate research grant from the National Science Foundation.

The program gives Vasquez the opportunity to research topics focusing on discrete mathematics and experiments. The grant provides research opportunities so students can become teachers working effectively in a technologically advancing world.

Vasquez already has completed teaching observations at P.S./M.S. 37 on West 230th Street, as well as at Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy. He also has worked at Connetquot High School on Long Island.
