Man in critical condition after IHOP shooting

Posted

It was more than just pancakes as usual during the early morning hours of Friday near the Kingsbridge IHOP.

Police arrived at the Broadway restaurant near West 238th Street around 12:30 a.m., Aug. 31, to find a 22-year-old man inside a car with a gunshot wound to the head.

Details on what led to the shooting are sketchy, but the victim reportedly was involved in a dispute with at least two other people. A passenger who was with him in the car — a black Honda, according to published reports — tried to drive away, but hit the brakes just a few blocks from where the shooting occurred.

It's not clear if the victim was driving or a passenger. He was taken to New York Presbyterian/The Allen Hospital, and listed in critical condition.

It seems as many as five people took off south on Broadway after the shooting, according to published reports, although it was not clear how many — if any — were involved in the shooting.
