St. Michael’s College senior utility man Ulysses Luciano, a Riverdale/Kingsbridge Academy alumnus, was named the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending Sunday, April 9 along with teammate John Luke Cianciolo Guilford/New Haven, Connecticut.
While seeing time at second base and in left field, Luciano batted .571 (12-for-21) with six runs, three RBI, four doubles, a home run and three walks during a 2-4 week, slugging .905 with a .625 on-base percentage.
He was 1-for-3 with a run and a walk in both ends of a doubleheader at Assumption last Monday, adding a double in the nightcap. On Friday at Saint Anselm, Luciano went 2-for-3 with two runs, an RBI, a double and a walk in the opener before adding a 2-for-4 effort with an RBI and a double in game two. On Saturday at Saint Anselm, he finished 4-for-4 with two runs, an RBI, a double and a homer in game one and ended up 2-for-4 in the second contest.
Luciano is tied for 11th in program history with five career home runs. He is batting .309 with 10 runs and six doubles.
Cianciolo posted a 0.75 earned run average and a 1-1 record across two starts, including one complete game, last week. He yielded four runs — just one earned — on five hits in 12 innings with seven walks, 10 strikeouts and a .114 opposing batting average.
In a 7-4 loss at Assumption University last Monday, Cianciolo allowed three unearned runs on two hits in five frames with four strikeouts. During an 8-1 victory at Saint Anselm College on Saturday, he limited the Hawks to one run on three hits during a seven-inning complete game for his first college win, fanning six and walking three. As DH in the second game Saturday Cianciolo went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
In his first season as a starting pitcher, Cianciolo leads the NE10 in ERA (1.71). He has allowed six earned runs on 27 hits in 31.2 innings.

The Purple Knights lost twice to Saint Anselm College, 16-5 and 4-2 in seven innings, on Friday before taking Saturday’s opener from Saint Anselm, 8-1 in seven innings, but losing a 10-3 decision in the second.
Sophomore Evan Balian (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield) and first-year Sam Cavossa (East Falmouth, Mass./The Winchendon School) also homered during the week, when Balian batted .435 and slugged .652. First-year Ryan Canty (Shelburne, Vt./Champlain Valley Union) finished with a .333 average. First-year Keegan Burke (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) struck out 12 batters to claim his initial college win, on Monday at Assumption, with the most strikeouts by a Purple Knight since Dylan Lavery’s dozen against Saint Anselm in 2016.
Burke finished the week 1-1 with a 2.92 ERA, yielding four earned runs in 12.1 innings with 15 strikeouts and only one walk.
