What’s missing from Alessandra Biaggi and her supporters’ criticism of state Sen. Jeff Klein are attacks on his actual record. That’s because it’s quite progressive. Instead, they claim more could have been accomplished.

Really?

Besides the Simcha Felder factor, there’s the fact that a bill giving civilian workers with 9/11-related illnesses unlimited sick time that passed the senate 63-0. But the Democratic-controlled Assembly would not vote on it. Democratic mayor Bill de Blasio, who always says he can’t afford anything that helps workers, claimed the city could not afford it.

Klein worked with Republicans to get progressive bills passed. Biaggi likes to tout the influence of her grandfather, the late Rep. Mario Biaggi. But he was repeatedly re-elected running on the Democratic, Republican and Conservative lines. He got the support of conservatives because he was conservative.

There are plenty of public officials who should be voted out of office. Biaggi should be asked why she chose to run against one who deserves re-election.
