Another burglary

2. In a somewhat bizarre account, police said a woman was burglarized but the unit shows no sign of forced entry.

The victim, 53, told police someone broke into her apartment and took Samsung cell phones on Jan. 24, although there was no sign of forced entry.

Police said the door of the apartment at 603 Kappock St., may have been unlocked at the time of the crime.

This case is open to investigation.

Car break-ins near Vannie

Two cars were broken into last week near Van Cortlandt Park, according to police.

3. The first occurred at 4585 Manhattan College Parkway, where police say $1,220 of electronics and school supplies were stolen from a 19-year-old woman’s car.

The victim said she had parked her car at 11 p.m. on Jan. 28, but returned the next morning to find her passenger window smashed and items stolen.

The victim’s MacBook was taken along with a North Face book bag and several textbooks.

4. The second incident happened at the intersection of Van Cortlandt Park West and Dickinson Avenue, where police say a man’s car was taken for nearly $2,000.

They said the victim, 42, parked his car overnight on Jan. 29, but when he returned he found someone had smashed in his window.

Items taken include two pairs of designer sunglasses, a jacket and a designer bag, worth an estimated total of $1,860.

Both cases are open to detectives.

Car stolen in Kingsbridge

5. Someone stole a car in the middle of the day in front of 2749 University Ave., according to police.

They said the victim, 59, left his 2011 Toyota Camry parked there at 2 p.m. on Jan. 23.

When he returned, however, someone had taken the car.  There were no cameras on scene and a canvass of the area produced no results.

The case is closed, but an alarm is out for the $8,000 vehicle.
