Daughter loses father’s wheels

Posted

She set out bright and early to put in an honest day’s work, but when she returned, her father’s car was missing.

A 20-year-old told cops she parked her dad’s ride on the 3800 block of Greystone Avenue, not far from the Ethical Culture Fieldston Lower School, before heading to her day gig around 8 a.m., Dec. 20. When she returned around the time school lets out, however, the car — a gray 2017 Honda HR-V, valued by police at $24,000 — was nowhere to be seen.

Yet, the sleek sedan wasn’t all that went missing, according to a report. Inside the car were two pairs of shoes, plus a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses. Police valued the kicks and shades at $275.

With no broken glass, and an apparent lack of security cameras in the area, cops claim they spied few clues at the scene, although a camera may have captured the car — which reportedly is equipped with an alarm — zooming away. But to where is a mystery, at least for now.

The young driver, meanwhile, told police she held on to both sets of keys for the car belonging to her 53-year-old father.

Case closed on the missing Honda, cops said, but they’re keeping an eye out for it.

Not much taken from Iselin Avenue home

Crooks capitalized on an empty home to swipe quick cash, but it was hardly a jackpot.

A 59-year-old told police she left home on the 5000 block of Iselin Avenue around 3 p.m., Dec. 14, to spend the weekend visiting family. When she returned the following Sunday afternoon, she found her kitchen ransacked.

The woman called the cops immediately. After a search, she probably was at least a bit relieved to find it could’ve been much worse, with only $700 reported missing from one of her bedrooms.

Police believe at least one mystery intruder slipped in through a basement window that was left unlocked.

It’s unclear whether security cameras could help them pin down the perps as they look into the burglary.
