Clinton campus gets fourth school

Posted

Education officials unanimously approved adding a fourth school at the DeWitt Clinton High School campus despite vocal opposition from students, parents and alumni.

The vote made way for creation of a new school for 150 students with special needs and disabilities.

Education officials identified space in DeWitt Clinton for more than 600 additional students. But the high school’s advocates said the classroom space was used for electives and technology labs — programs that attracted and engaged students in a school that has battled chronic low graduation rates over the last 20 years.

Lehman offers grads ‘digital diplomas’

Lehman College’s Class of 2019 took a step into the future, receiving diplomas not just in their traditional paper format, but digitally as well using blockchain technology.

Graduates can send schools and potential employers unique, time-stamped digital credentials that are cryptographically signed, according to a release. Instead of contacting the college’s administration to verify graduation and grades, digital diplomas are verified by multiple trusted sources.
