1. Police said that a local boy’s cell phone was stolen from him as he exited the Bx 9 bus at 3:45 p.m. on April 21, near 269 W. Kingsbridge Road.

As the youth, whose age police did not disclose, held the bus door open with his left hand, another boy behind him snatched the iPhone 5c, valued at $100, and stepped ahead of the first boy.

According to police, a physical altercation ensued, in which the second boy pretended to be innocent.

“Get off of me!” he yelled at the victim.

When the victim did, the suspect bolted down Kingsbridge Road and could not be apprehended. The case remains open to detectives.

2. Attempted burglary

A 47-year-old Riverdale woman was sleeping in her home at 324 W. 263rd St. at 11:40 p.m. on April 22 when an unexpected caller began ringing her doorbell, according to police.

The woman descended from her second-story bedroom and was about to answer the front door for two boys when she noticed a third lurking in her backyard. Alert to the possibility of their criminal intent, the 47-year-old immediately called 911.

Officers arrived on the scene within minutes, and two of the three boys were apprehended: a 19-year-old with eight prior arrests and a 20-year-old with seven priors. Both had previously been charged with larceny and assault.

Police said the case was formally closed, but that they were still seeking information on the whereabouts of the third suspect in the attempted burglary case.

The boys who were apprehended do not reside in Riverdale, police said.

3. Kingsbridge stabbing

Authorities said a 39-year-old man was stabbed while walking to his car at the corner of West 197th Street and Sedgwick Avenue at 9 p.m. on April 22.

When the 39-year-old exited a nearby building, he was accosted by an unknown man and entered an argument, police said. The argument escalated and the second man pulled a knife on the victim, stabbed him in the left shoulder and then stabbed him again in the left hand. The last injury was a defense wound, according to police.

When the perpetrator took to his heels, the 39-year-old made it to his car and drove himself to the Allen Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

The felony assault case remains open to detectives.

4. Forged plates

A 25-year-old man pulled over at 12:34 a.m. on Sunday at the corner of West 238th Street and Waldo Avenue for a broken taillight was discovered to be using forged plates, police said.

“People will ride around with what look like temporary plates you get when you buy the car,” a community affairs spokesman explained. In this case, the numbers on the lookalike plate were “neither legit nor valid in New York State.”

The 25-year-old, who was driving a green Honda, was charged with possession of a forged instrument, a misdemeanor, and hit with summonses for driving with a suspended license and the broken taillight.

5. Narcotics arrest

At 3:03 a.m. on April 25, a 23-year-old Kingsbridge man was arrested by police at the corner of Sedgwick and Fort Independence avenues for possession of narcotics, including an unspecified quantity of OxyContin, police said.

Later that day, the 23-year-old’s mother, 61, reported her black 2005 Honda Accord, valued at $3,500, as stolen.

After two days with no leads, police closed the case on Sunday and placed the Honda on an interstate stolen vehicles registry.

“That car was probably gone long before Friday,” police speculated.

6. Shots fired in Marble Hill

Police and other emergency personnel responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired in Marble Hill at 12:13 a.m. on April 19.

Detectives who arrived on the scene determined that a bullet had struck an apartment window of 109 West 225 St. They discovered bullet fragments inside the home, and shell casings outside of it. No injuries were reported.

After canvassing local residents, detectives concluded that a dispute between a group of “known offenders” from the area had taken place, though the men in question were not believed to be affiliated with a gang. The reckless endangerment case remains open to investigation, police said.
