Business safe is robbed of thousands

An employee of Eli Clothing Boutique had a bad morning when they were opening the business for the day on June 24 and discovered a hole in the ceiling and an open safe missing thousands of dollars.

Upon walking into the boutique at 5625 Broadway, the employee discovered several merchandise scattered on the floor and a hole in the ceiling, police said. Further inspection revealed an open safe with more than $22,000 and 26 pairs of jeans missing.

The case is currently open to the 50th Precinct Detective Unit.

Another Kia stolen

Another owner of a Kia has been the victim of a theft. This time it was a 2020 Kia Sg2, police said.

The victim parked his car opposite 4646 Independence Ave. on Friday, June 16 at around 7:30 p.m. He returned the next day at around 6 p.m. where he discovered his vehicle worth $24,000 was gone.

Rims and tires stolen

All four rims and tires were stolen from a man’s 2023 Toyota at the Northwest corner of Henry Hudson Parkway.

The man parked his car on Thursday, June 15, and returned Sunday, June 18 at around 9 p.m. where he discovered the theft. The rims and tires were valued at $2,500.

Four rob train passenger

A man was chased and robbed by four men after exiting a train. The man was walking home when the four robbers chased him down and shoved him. They stole $120 from him and fled in an unknown direction.

The man was uninjured.

Attempted robbery

A victim suffered multiple lacerations after an attempted robbery on June 20. The victim reported to police that he had a verbal dispute with a stranger at the northeast corner Riverdale Avenue and West 236th St. at around 4 a.m.

The stranger, which apparently used a box cutter, demanded that they hand over their car keys. The person then proceeded to cut the victim multiple times. The stranger was unsuccessful at taking anything.

Catalytic
converter stolen

A man was the victim of a grand larceny right in front of his home. The catalytic converter from his 2004 Ford Excursion was stripped away right in his driveway rear of 6129 Tyndall Ave., police said.

The theft occurred on April 20, over two months ago, but the man is only reporting it now for insurance reasons. The catalytic converter was worth $3,000.

Motorcycle stolen

A man’s 2021 Jiajue motorcycle was stolen in front of 150 West 225 St. on Tuesday, June 20. The man parked his vehicle at that address and it was stolen sometime between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

It is valued at $1,800.
