Be wary of yellow snow

Posted

To the editor:

Many of us are ambivalent about snow.

It’s beautiful, it’s hard to walk.

It’s beautiful, traffic gets worse.

You get the picture.

After a few days, however, the snow is no longer beautiful. What is particularly jarring is the amount of yellow coloring of the snow where dogs are walked or where they congregate.

It took a long time to agree that solid dog waste was not only unsightly, but an unnecessary and unsanitary addition to the urban landscape. Perhaps we should also think about the huge amounts of liquid waste dumped all year long, but only visible in the formerly pristine snow.
