A subway theft and more in this week's Police Beat

1. Sunday burglary

Police said an unknown number of suspects robbed a 53-year-old woman at 1 Adrian Ave. on Sunday between 2 and 9:30 p.m.

The victim told police she was visiting her sister when the perpetrators entered her apartment through an unlocked kitchen window. The burglars took $2,000 in cash and two watches valued at  $375.

The case remains open to detectives.

2. Subway theft

Authorities said thieves emptied the contents of a 50-year-old woman’s purse between 3 and 5 a.m. on the 1 Train on Monday.

The victim said after a night out with friends, she took the subway at the 50th Street station and fell asleep; when she woke up at 137th Street, she still had all of her belongings and fell back asleep. When she arrived at 242nd Street and Broadway, the victim awoke to find her wallet on the ground and $300 in cash — as well as health insurance cards, debit cards and New York State ID — had been stolen. 

The grand larceny case remains open to detectives.

3. Godwin Avenue robbery

A 43-year-old woman told police that she was robbed on Sunday at about 6:40 p.m. in front of 3030 Godwin Terrace. 

According to police, a roughly 25-year-old suspect took the victim’s phone from her hand and claimed to have a gun. The suspect then fled west on 230th Street before the victim lost sight of her. 

The victim’s stolen iPhone is valued at about $750, and the case remains open to detectives.

4. App helps catch robber

A 16-year-old male was robbed in front of 5210 Broadway on Sunday around 6:35 p.m., according to police. 

The victim stated that he was walking down Broadway when the perpetrator attempted to snatch his phone, knocking it to the ground.  According to police, the suspect told the victim to stay or “next time I’ll shoot you.”  The 24-year-old male robber then grabbed the Samsung Galaxy 6S, valued at $750, and fled the scene. 

The teen used the “Find My Phone” application to help police locate the suspect, who was subsequently arrested.

5. Tires stolen

A 41-year-old man told police that he discovered all four tires from his gray 2008 Honda Accord stolen on Dec. 10 around 1:30 p.m. opposite of 292 W. 238th St.

The value of the tires and rims was placed at around $1,200.

The grand larceny case is still open to detectives.
