A neighborhood comes together to protest family separation

Protests have swept the country after revelations that border patrol agents have been separating asylum-seeking families as a result of the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy. In the early evening on June 18, members of North Bronx Racial Justice and local residents gathered on the corner of West 231st and Kingsbridge Avenue to protest that policy that has resulted in undocumented children living in a tent camp in Texas. Community members called for family reunification and for a law to be passed that would put a stop to family separation. In the last six weeks, nearly 2,000 children have been separated from their families.
