50th Precinct Police seek person in grand larceny

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying an individual depicted in surveillance camera footage of a grand larceny incident that occurred at a Best Buy in Kingsbridge.

An unknown male entered a Best Buy at 171 W. 230th St. in Kingsbridge on Jan. 6 and took a laptop from a display case, it was reported to police in the 50th Precinct at 1:37 p.m.  The individual then placed the laptop under his hooded sweatshirt and exited the store.

The individual is described as a male, with a medium build and a black beard.  He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, gray knit hat, eyeglasses and dark colored pants.

Construction trailer break-in

Police received a report of a burglary that occurred at a construction site in Riverdale on Jan. 8.

A 36-year-old man told police he locked and secured his construction trailer in the rear of 4555 Henry Hudson Parkway around 8 p.m. on Jan. 7. When he returned to the site the next day around 7 a.m. he discovered the locks had been drilled into.

A tool box and the trailer were removed, according to police.

There are no suspects yet and an investigation is underway.

Rims and tires taken by men in ski masks

Police received a report from someone who witnessed their rims and tires being stolen by several men on Jan. 8.

A 37-year-old man told police that he parked his vehicle in front of 3214 Johnson Ave. around 8 p.m. When he returned the next day around 3:30 a.m., he observed about four men with ski masks using power tools to remove his rims and tires.

The suspects then fled the location in a white Jeep northbound on Johnson Avenue. Police do not have any suspect descriptions and are currently investigating the crime.

Driver strikes police car, flees

A police car stop in Kingsbridge took an unexpected turn last week when a driver failed to stop and instead collided with two cars, including a patrol car, police said.

Around 5 p.m. police instructed an unknown driver to stop in the vicinity of Broadway and West 225 Street. However, the driver failed to stop, continuing to drive onto Bailey Avenue, police said.

This resulted in the driver hitting a patrol car, then a second vehicle operated by a 33-year-old man, police said.
